Privacy policy
Last updated 30 October 2026
This policy explains what personal information RonLabs collects through this website, what we do with it, and how you can see or correct it. It follows the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.
Who we are
RonLabs is a two-person studio in New Zealand that builds web applications, apps for teams and websites. When this policy says “we” or “us”, it means RonLabs. You can reach us, including our privacy officer, at hello@ronlabs.co.nz.
What we collect
When you get in touch
If you use the form on this site or email us, we receive your name, your email address, your message, and anything else you choose to include, such as details about your business or files you attach.
When you visit the site
We don't use cookies, analytics or advertising trackers on this site, and we don't build a profile of visitors. Like any website, a few technical details are passed along when your browser loads a page:
- Our hosting provider receives your IP address and browser details, and may keep them in short-term server logs used to run the site and keep it secure.
- The site's typeface is loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address and browser details when a page loads. Google's own privacy policy covers how it handles them.
How we use it
We use what you send us to:
- reply to your enquiry and talk through what you need
- prepare a scope and a quote
- if you become a client, do the work, invoice you and keep proper business records.
We won't add you to a mailing list without asking, and we never sell or rent personal information.
Who we share it with
Only the services we need to run the business: our email provider, which stores our correspondence, and the company that hosts this website. We'll also share information if the law requires us to.
Where it's stored
Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand, for example in Australia or the United States. We only use well-established providers with security safeguards comparable to those New Zealand law requires.
How long we keep it
If you don't go ahead with a project, we delete your enquiry within 12 months. If you become a client, we keep project correspondence while we're working together, and keep invoices and related records for seven years, as New Zealand tax law requires.
Keeping it safe
We keep your information in secure, password-protected accounts that only the two of us can access, and take reasonable steps to protect it from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. If a privacy breach ever caused, or was likely to cause, serious harm, we'd tell you and the Privacy Commissioner, as the law requires.
Seeing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it's wrong. You can also ask us to delete it once we no longer need to keep it. Email hello@ronlabs.co.nz. It's free, and we'll respond within 20 working days.
Software we build for clients
Some of the software we build handles personal information that belongs to our clients, such as staff records or the details of students on a school trip. That information is the client's. We handle it under our agreement with them, and the client's own privacy policy applies. If your information is in an app we've built for an organisation, contact that organisation first. We'll help them with any request you make.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, tell us and we'll try to put it right. If we can't, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz or on 0800 803 909.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
