Personalised websites, apps and tools

Built around you, not around a template.

We're a two-person studio in New Zealand building web applications, team apps and complete websites, each one shaped around how your business runs.

First the problem. Then what to build.

Sometimes that's an app that takes hours off a team's week. Sometimes it's a website with bookings and a shop behind it. We work out which together, before anything gets built.

Web applications

Software that follows the way your business already runs. Dashboards, checklists, document tools and internal systems that take the repetitive, manual hours out of the week.

Apps for teams

Tools for people who work away from a desk. They run on a phone, keep working when the signal drops, and record each job on site, where it happens.

Websites & online stores

Whole websites, built from scratch. Enquiry forms that reach your inbox, bookings that land in your calendar, and a shop you can run yourself once it's handed over.

Built, launched, and in use.

Software in daily use at real businesses, and websites you can visit yourself. Some clients prefer not to be named, so their names are left out.

Software

Vehicle checks

A daily pre-start app for a trucking fleet

2 trucks caught over their legal road-user-charge limit in the very first week.

Drivers used to tick a paper book kept in the cab, and nobody saw a fault until someone flicked through it. Now the check takes two minutes on their phone, even with no signal, and the manager gets an email the moment something fails.

Order reader

Turns PDF order forms into spreadsheet rows

2,000 orders a season no longer typed out by hand.

A kiwifruit fertiliser contractor was copying every order from a PDF into their spreadsheet by hand. Now they drop the PDFs onto one page, check what it found, and send it straight in without touching what is already there.

It also turned up three old mistakes in their existing records.

“The end result has significantly improved our efficiency, reduced the time spent on manual data entry and virtually eliminated the risk of human error. It’s refreshing to work with someone who takes the time to understand your needs and delivers a solution that makes such a positive difference to day-to-day operations.”

School trip safety

Live tracking, roll call and SOS for school trips

Set up a whole trip in 2 minutes, then share one join code.

Trips used to run on WhatsApp groups, paper roll-call sheets and hope. Now staff see every student on one live map, take roll call in seconds, and get an alert the moment someone leaves the agreed area or presses SOS. Students agree to exactly what's tracked before they join.

iPhone version on the way. Schools can try their first trip free.

Four steps, the same two people.

There are two of us and you'll deal with both, from the first call through to launch. No account managers, and nobody new joining halfway.

  1. Understand

We start by talking through your business and how the work gets done today. Then we write a scope: what it must do, what it must never do, and what it costs. You sign off on it before anything is built.

  2. Design

Screens and flows, drawn up and walked through together. Changes are cheap at this stage and expensive later, so this is where we ask the awkward questions.

  3. Build

We build in small pieces and show you working progress every week, so nothing at the end comes as a surprise.

  4. Launch

We put it live, hand everything over, and still pick up the phone afterwards. Ongoing support is there if you want it, and you own everything either way.

Two people, start to finish.

RonLabs is two people. One builds the software; the other runs everything around it: quotes, scheduling and answering the phone. That's the whole studio.

Nobody stands between you and the person writing the code, and you won't become a client number. You'll deal with the same two people from the first conversation to launch, and long after.

Every build starts from scratch, around your problem. A document reader shaped to one company's filing habits. Vehicle checks designed for gloved hands in the rain. A safety app built around how school trips really run.

We also take on fewer projects at a time than an agency would, so each one gets finished properly.

Have a job in mind?

Send a few lines about what's slow, manual or kept in a spreadsheet. If it's a good fit, you'll get a scope and a fixed price within a few days. If it isn't, we'll say so and point you to someone who can help.
